Bio

Nancy Snow Carr has been a singer, actor, and educator for over 25 years, and is currently a full-time Lecturer at San Diego State University.  Nancy holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Elon University, an MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University, and is currently pursuing an MM in Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy from Shenandoah University. She has served on the faculty at Stephens College, Grossmont College, and MiraCosta College. She was also employed by the University of Virginia to teach Musical Theatre History, Theatre History, and Acting, as well as serve as a TEDx speaker coach, with Semester at Sea in 2010, 2014 and 2023 where she sailed around the world with Desmund Tutu and over 600 college students, seeing a total of 37 countries. Nancy was also the Director of Musical Theatre at Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) in Washington, DC serving 1,000 students in the DC metropolitan area.  

She currently owns and operates one of the most successful private voice and audition preparation studios in San Diego, CA, where she has taught private voice lessons for over 20 years. Her students have appeared on Broadway, national tours, numerous regional theaters, and have received countless accolades from performing arts organizations. 

In addition to being a passionate educator, Nancy is also an active professional actor. She began her professional performance career on the national tours of Phantom (Christine) and The Buddy Holly Story.  Favorite regional credits include the Washington, DC premiere of Hunter Foster and David Kirshenbaum’s Summer of '42 (Dorothy), The Light in the Piazza (Margaret) at The California Center for the Arts Escondido (Craig Noel Award nomination),  Singin’ in the Rain (Lina Lamont) at The Rev Theatre Company in Auburn, NY,  Mamma Mia (Rosie) and The Addams Family (Alice) at the Welk Resort Theatre, Children of Eden (Eve/Mama Noah), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Rona), South Pacific (Nellie), I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change, and City of Angels (Bobbi/Gabby) at Heritage Theatre Festival.  

In San Diego, she has played the role of Lady Montague in The Last Goodbye, directed by Alex Timbers, six years in the cast of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas at The Old Globe Theatre; appeared in Respect: A Musical Journey of Women at the Lyceum Theatre (and at the Herberger Theater in Phoenix, AZ); as well as The Music Man, The Servant of Two Masters, A Christmas Carol, and The Foreigner at Lamb's Players Theatre.
